Collins Radio Company, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa was one of the premier designers and manufacturers of military electronics and amateur radio equipment in from the 1940's through about the early 1980s. The company was
purchased by Rockwell and eventually left the amateur market.
For those of you who remember Chief McKeon (USS Calcaterra's 65-66 Deep Freeze cruise) he had a Collins KWM-2 transceiver installed in the Aerographer's shack for phone patching to the USA on the amateur radio bands.
Over the past few years I've been acquiring Collins equipment, including a KWM-2 that is identical to the one used by Chief McKeon.
